Okay, so technically this is a Hottie Police costume. As you can guess the name did of course make Var laugh and talk about it, like a little boy. The girls were all “why is it Hottie Police?” so I had to explain it.
I’m not really easy to please when it comes to Halloween costumes. Due to discomfort about my weight, I tend to completely avoid costumes all together, or wear something that covers me completely. Usually I’m the “I have to make it myself because there is no way something with a beautiful model on the cover will ever look good on me!” type. Yes, that’s a bit dramatic huh? Didn’t say I was proud of that fact.
Still, I really jumped at the ability to be able to actually review one of these costumes myself! That is where the wonderful people over at Costume Discounters came in! I received any costume of my choice within a certain price limit to review. Not a bad deal I must say!
And though I typically would not have picked this sort of costume myself, I have to say that the reactions of the kids, and my own positive feelings in the costume really made this worth it!
The kids were so super excited to see me in this costume the first time I tried it on. Sadly, we had to move and I didn’t get the chance to take pictures. The ex came over to help pack and I really didn’t need the game of interrogation on why I was wearing such a thing in April! Yes, I’ve had this costume since right when I found out we had to move. Sadly it got packed with lots of my bedroom things and I just now found the box it was in to write a review.
I’m now the best of taking pictures of myself. Still, I actually feel confident in this costume that despite my size (currently a 14/16) I look pretty darn good in this costume! I don’t fit so well in the “one sized” costumes, and I was worried that I wouldn’t fit well in the “plus sized” either. As they say they go from size 18-22 for the sizes on these. Thankfully I have big hips and a larger bust size because I think that helps (and maybe hurts in the ‘average’ department) me for fitting a bit better here.
The kids were positively gushing over this costume! Asking me if I was going to wear it for Halloween and getting all excited at my when I confirmed it! They actually wanted me to stay in the costume for a fair bit of time, and if I hadn’t had lots of packing and cleaning to do. I would have done so!
I love the sparkly blue material used for the costume. It’s shimmery, a little on the form fitting side, but I don’t feel like I’m stuffed into a sausage wrapper if you get what I mean. The costume comes included with All the elements you see me wearing. I think I’ll need a pair of handcuffs for Halloween though! Look out Aussie! 😉 Officer Kisa will be on patrol that night!
Though I think it’s high time I redye my hair!
Another thing I looooove about this costume? The skirt! I adore skirts that have lace and are a bit on the full and frilly side. This costume combines sexy with the girliness I love! The cut of the sleeves makes me feel that my arms look thinner than I always worry they look. So I don’t feel at all as though I’ll be walking around thinking ‘oh gods my arms are so gross! People are going to stare!!’
The collar ties on, the shirt as you can see zips up the front, and ties in the back, the arm cuffs velcro closed in the back, and the skirt is a simple elastic waistband. I almost want a pettiskirt to make the skirt even more full and pretty. I just might get one before Halloween!
Overall I am so pleased that I got to review this costume! I can’t wait to wear it for Halloween, or maybe more than just Halloween (if you get my drift! 😉 )
Costume Discounters has some absolutely great costume deals aside from this one! Which was under the $35 mark. Not only do they have plus sizes, they have regular adult, teens, and children’s costumes as well! Their customer service is great, staff is friendly and prompt, and shipping time was absolutely fantastic! Great prices, great costumes, great company. What more can you ask for with so many different companies out there catering to the costume market?
Over and out!
‘Officer’ Kisa 😉
disclaimer: I received this costume at no cost to me from Costume Discounters. All opinions are my own, or my kids, and aside from the picture taken from the website of the model…. obviously the rest are mine. I received only the costume to review, and no compensation other than the free product.
