*Feeding your dog the dinner it deserves*
There are many different types of dog food on the market for pet owners to choose from. In one sense, this is great as it means people should be able to find the ideal versions for their canine companions. However, the level of choice can also be confusing.

*What’s best for your dog’s diet?*
These days, owners can take their pick from dry complete diets such as Bakers dog food, semi-moist or tinned food and homemade foods. As a general rule, people should stick to the same dog foods as stability helps to maintain good digestion.
Premium dry foods are often considered to be best, although they can be more expensive to buy. Meanwhile, tinned foods and semi-moist foods can vary considerably in quality and pet owners should check the ingredients carefully before buying them.
*Is DIY dog food a good option?*
As a general rule, it’s not a good idea to attempt to provide dogs with a homemade diet. It’s very difficult to get the balance of nutrition right. Dogs’ needs differ from those of people and certain human foods are even poisonous to dogs.
It’s also important for owners to bear in mind that dogs’ nutritional requirements differ depending on their life stage. For example, puppies need more calories in their diets than older dogs because they are growing and they burn more energy. These days, many commercial dog food brands such as Vet’s Kitchen offer products that vary according to the age of pets so keep an eye out for suitable foods.
*Watch your dog’s weight*
One final point to mention is that owners should stick to the feeding guidelines provided on pet food, especially regarding amounts. Many dogs are now overweight because their owners feed them too much. Indeed, obesity is the most common nutritional problem seen by vets and it can lead to a range of health problems, including diabetes, heart disease and arthritis.
With a little common sense and a responsible approach, owners can provide their pets with a healthy diet and, the best thing is, they needn’t bust their budgets in the process. A range of bulk dog food products are available online these days, so you can ensure you’re well-stocked up on the healthy choices, without paying more than you need to.

It’s so true..making my dog chicken now!
Brigid OHara Koshko says
I learned the hard way (as did my critters) that premium or homemade food is the best option. All my critters developed severe allergies that were linked to commercial food. I am now very diligent about what everyone eats and my critters are happy and healthy.

The importance of diet must never be undervalued and I cannot emphasize enough on that. While commercial options are good, I prefer to give my Bailey homemade raw diet as I feel it is the best thing for him. I understand his needs and luckily for me, he seems to quite enjoy the diet I give him.
Aca Baranton says
I have always been very particular about feeding my pet pug what is best for him and scientifically prescribed. I feed him twice a day, since he love eggs the most so egg minced with bread is his staple diet, though he does not mind chicken chunks at times.
