Another product for cats I would really like to mention right now is the Sherpa Safety Suite, it latches into your cat (if your car is manufactured AFTER 2002) and secures most soft-sided carriers. It folds flat onto the bad of your seat for easy storage, and so you don’t have to keep moving it just to use your seat! Which is a win!
I don’t have a car new enough for these, but I was sent a couple that will be hopefully able to find a home at a local pet rescue or something to help them transport animals. Assuming I can find one that can use it. I would love to, but I don’t have a soft carrier, and our van is a 1998!
You can buy the Sherpa Safety Suite on Amazon, and it’s better than hoping your cat isn’t totally terrified with their soft carrier just sitting on the floor of your car unsecured. Or you trying to hold it and one handed drive… yeah… not a good idea…
