One of the great things about the advancements in technology over the years is that those advancements have brought about some amazing educational opportunities for kids that I only wish we had back when I was younger! Not that I didn’t have some pretty neat toys, but nothing like a tablet that’s for sure!
VTech has released their 4th generation kids tablet featuring the fastest processor they’ve yet to use, and a 7″ high-resolution multi-touch display.
Disclaimer: We received the following product, as well as a download card with a $20 value, in order to facilitate this review.
The larger screen is great for me, as smaller screens are hard for my eyes, and hard for my larger fingers. >.> I struggle with my phone compared to my tablet that’s for sure!
No no no, the VTech InnoTab MAX is not the tablet I use silly! But if I was in the age range for it, you would bet that I’d love it!
Geared for kiddos 3-9 years old (though you can get apps for kiddos who are 2 years old, and I let Risiel who is 1 play with it) this tablet is amazing compared to low end tablets geared even towards adults!
The VTech InnoTab MAX has 8GB of space and a slot for a MicroSD card up to 32GB! It has a 1.4GHz Dual Core processor, 2MP 180* Rotating Camera, MP3 Player, Rechargeable Battery (with charger included), two free downloaded games, plus access to over 650 educator supported games, apps and e-books.
The VTech Innotab MAX also comes with it’s own stylus, but Risi bit off the rubber tip of ours so I have to replace it and make sure not to have it on the tablet when I let her play it. >.>After a quick and easy set-up process by me, I had Lisi up and running in no time. I allowed her to pick a free app for herself and then to pick one she thought Risi might enjoy. They sometimes play this together actually. Though Risi prefers to play with the camera app and use the coloring/art program to make pretty pictures.
You can use both Cartridges and Android Apps (only allowed downloads not just anything…) on this tablet too! Making it pretty versatile.
I would like to mention one thing about the camera, even though it’s 2MP, which isn’t great but isn’t overly terrible… the camera doesn’t take the best pictures. Even with the lights on in the house they tend to be sadly grainy and dark. I think it’s perhaps because the camera is pretty far back in the little plastic area that rotates the 180*
While a lot of kids may not notice, particularly those who are younger than Lisi (and less picky than I am…) it is kind of a drawback. But not overly. Risi doesn’t seem to care, she can see ‘the baby’ (aka herself) enough in the camera that it is still a plus for her.
