The Kit-Cat Clock is an american classic that has been around since 1932, and with its signature look staying the same since the 1950’s. It was in the 50’s that Kit-Cat’s top paws and signature bow-tie were added to complete is look.
I don’t remember the first time I ever saw a Kit-Cat clock, but I remember it from my childhood and maybe on older TV shows. Like I said, I know Kit-Cat, but can’t remember how or why. Kit-Cat has just been… there.
As you all know my oldest daughters nickname is Kat, no that’s not her actual name but she has always been my “Kitten” due to her love of cats (her oldest plush cat she has had since before she was born!) Kat is a fitting nickname for use online, and it sounds more mature for a 14 year old to be called “Kat” than “Kitten” by her friends.
I’ve known for awhile that Kat likes the sound of clocks that tick, it’s not really a sound I can sleep with, but she says that it calms her and helps her fall asleep. So I knew this year for Christmas it was on to find a clock for their room that fit in with her and Sisi’s current style of bedroom. Aka – lots of plushies, drawings and very personalized to them. What else but a Kit-Cat clock was going to fit the bill? It’s so perfectly Kat (because it’s a Kat…) and Sisi (because it’s black and she prefers darker colors) at the same time, that I knew he’d fit in so well!
Also, it just so happens that Miss Midnight (who adopted Kat as ‘her human’) and Tori (who decided that Kat was HERS) are black cats… well okay Tori is a Tuxedo, but she has enough black that it counts!
With his swinging tail and eyes that move side to side, I can’t wait to see Kat’s face when she opens Kit-Cat on Christmas morning!
The Kit-Cat clock takes two size C batteries, and hangs easily on your wall. You can also purchase a stand on the website, as well as 12″ round smile clock, and Kit-Cat Earrings!!
You can buy Kit-Cat Clocks at their website, where you can find him in the classic Black as well as a variety of colors!
In 2001 they introduced the Lady Kit-Cat clock! Which comes in classic black as well as 6 other different colors! The lady Kit-Cat features a pearl necklace and eyelashes!
Do you remember the Kit-Cat clock? Have you ever had one or seen one before?
