Today’s Motivational Monday quote:
Most “impossible” goals can be met simply by breaking them down into bite size chunks, writing them down, believing them, and then going full speed ahead as if they were routine.
Don Lancaster
Good evening all, Cid here with your Motivational Monday! Today’s quote is about goals and goal setting, because, to be honest, we all lose focus sometimes. I’m no exception – I have some pretty massive projects of my own that I’m working on, plus kids, helping with the blog, starting up my own website, and all the other side jobs we’ve both got going. So, it seemed appropriate.
What this Motivational Monday quote tells us is to not get overwhelmed by the big goals, instead to look at them as their parts. I’m writing my own RPG, and if I look at that as the only goal I have, then yes, I feel like I’m trying to climb a mountain on just my fingertips. It feels like it’ll take another twenty years to do just one thing!
Instead, I take a deep breath, look at the list of all the things that need done, and just pick one of those at a time. Each one might take me four hours or so, but I only need to pay attention to one part at a time. Every small goal is one more step toward completing the major goal, and I can measure the completion, and get the satisfaction of that accomplishment, for every one of those when it is finished. That makes the project manageable.
Anyway, I’m going to leave you all on that while I get back to one of those four-hour tasks.
Later,
-C
