Kofi survived the night, and has been more energetic today.
It’s still touchy if she’ll survive… because she’s still very weak. She had trouble going bathroom and I had to stimulate her much a way you would have to when raising a pinky to make them ‘go.’
At times, she slept on my chest last night, and I didn’t get much sleep at all due to waking up so often to make sure she would survive and get fed.
I’ve noticed her eating some solid food here and there, thank goodness. Actually, not that long ago she nommed on a piece of popcorn (I figure it’s nice a soft for her to try and stomach) and I even noticed her eating some of her mousey cupcake treat as well.
This is a vast improvement over yesterday. Though she is still very weak and spends most of her time sleeping I have seen signs of energy and playfulness not unusual for her typical behavior.
Still for now she is in MICU (Mouse Intensive Care Unit) aka a 1 gallon plastic box with tons of holes in the lid to give her air, half of it under a heat pad so she can be warm and woken up/checked on every 30+ minutes because I don’t want her going too long without fluids considering how bad off she was yesterday.
This morning the ex took the kids to their schools, as I was just wasted from momma nurse duty. It’ll be the same tomorrow, as I’m in for a night of the same as tonight… but with less weakness (on Kofi’s part) and less worry and tears (on my part!)
Right now she’s asleep in her little box, above the bedding just happily napping. She’s still breathing… but I try so hard to watch her because I am so worried for her.
*sigh* my head hurts from inconsistent sleep… and I feel like I did when Squee (the original) was a baby and I was raising her from rescue. But this time it’s not summer break and I don’t have the option to just sleep in usually. Thank goodness Aussie got the kids ready to go, and the ex did the school driving. I would not have been a safe driver this morning and their assistance in things is much appreciated.
Well.. that’s enough for this post. I am thankful that Kofi is still alive despite everything.
