The snow is melting!! YAY for rain!!
Sadly, I discovered something very bad.
Kofi’s new water bottle isn’t working well, and hasn’t since we gave it to her on Sunday. Which means that…. she’s two days dehydrated.
I freaked right out when I noticed the boy’s bottle wasn’t working well. They’re stronger and all that, so I knew they’d manage after I fixed it… but I went to the girls room… Kofi (coffee) was stiff as a board, curled in a teeny little ball.
Trying to remain calm I scooped her into my hand and rushed upstairs. Kitten milk! I had to make kitten milk asap! Force feeding her by putting the dropper in her carefully opened mouth.. I called the ex in a panic. If anyone could drive me to a vet while I attempted to ‘revive’ the at-deaths-door Kofi.. it was him.
He didn’t answer… twice, by the third time I was hysterical. He called the vet, got down here as fast as he could, grabbed my van keys and off we went. As legally fast as we could to the vet. Who weighed in poor Kofi at a mere 12grams. That’s it…. 12 grams…
After that, they gave her a shot of fluids under her skin as it could absorb that way, gave us vitamins, and said to keep doing what I was doing. Kitten milk, and keep her warm because this poor little mouse (runt) has absolutely no body fat. Of all of Moka and Koko’s babies… she’s absolutely teeny and ‘in the wild, she would have been abandoned by her mother.’ Aka… she’d be dead. Ahh!! D:
I know that it’s true, she’s positively teeny tiny… but that doesn’t mean I want her dead. I’m her mommy now, and it’s my job to care for her.
I’ve been trying to get her to feed as often as possible. Just feed, warmth, as often as I can get her to eat… just go with it. I’ll be up all night praying that she’ll live…
