Today’s promt: Write a letter to your 14-year-old self.
Dear 14-year-old Self,
Don’t stop voice acting, even just for fun. You’ll regret it many many years down the line when you try and remember things you liked to do and have to try and find yourself. Remember why you love it, and keep at it. Don’t let nerves and other things get in your way, you have great friends who love you… don’t mess that up!
You’ll become a parent in a couple of years, yes I know you’re careful with your birth control but it’s going to happen. Sorry! But you’ll have the most wonderful daughter ever despite your age, she’ll amaze you in ways that you didn’t think anyone ever could.
Take care of yourself now, get help for your depression and don’t just blow it off. You need it, the sooner the better because if not it’s going to get worse. Tons and tons worse. Right now you’re at the point where walking around town and the mall isn’t a big deal, it’s actually fun. 2:30am walks are a thing you enjoy. You’ll lose all of it if you’re not careful to take care of yourself now.
Be careful around your older sisters friends, some don’t understand the meaning of “no” and it’s going to kill your relationship with Eric. He’s going to fall out of your life and so are all of your other friends if you continue on your path.
Be so careful with older men, you don’t get it fully… but the internet is a place full of predators and they’re looking for people just like us. Vulnerable girls who just want to be loved and accepted. Trust me, the awful feelings after what may happen will take many years to recover from.. and the scars are everlasting.
Anyway, Sushi isn’t made with spinach wrapped around it, it’s seaweed. You won’t realize that until after your first failed attempt at making it, but then you’ll become really good at it and people will ask you to make it for them. Do so happily, and remember that when people ask you to do something you do well it’s because it’s something you do well! Take that compliment and run with it, feel the happiness and don’t let life get you so down that you start to hate everything.
Things are going to be rough, but you can do them. Take everything you can at its best and just try to remember to breathe. Just breathe. Relax and do something that makes you happy every day! You’ll regret it otherwise when you’re 28 and wondering where you’ve gone wrong in your life.
I want to thank you for wanting awesome colored hair so much. It’s something we’ve kept doing long after we first did it at 15. Yes, we finally went blue! Many times over in fact, and we’ve gone a great many colors since then.
Keep doing conventions, roleplaying and making friends. You’ll need them in the future. Roleplaying will eventually land you a wonderful caring husband after so many years of trouble and hurting. It’s going to suck until then, and things are going to be a struggle… but trust me he’s worth it.
Cheer up! Be nice to Shawna, be careful what sides you take and what things you say. Try and spend more time with family, you never know when you’re going to need them most and if you push them away… who else will you have?
I love you!
Always remember that.
~Your future self
