That is all for our simple lesson on Japanese words for fruit today! Tune in next week for Vegetables in Japanese!~! <3
Thank you for the lesson. Now I’ll know how to ask for my fruit salad if I ever visit Japan.
Fun! I think that my favorite sounding word is momo, although many are so similar. Do you speak Japanese at home with your 4 kids, or primarily English? Our kids are learning French, and I have a bad habit of not speaking French to them often enough.
I actually have 5 kiddos, but yes I do speak some Japanese to them at home. At bedtime we say “Oyasumi nasai” and when I get home I say “Tadaima!” I also sing in Japanese a lot too. One of my 11 week old daughters favorite songs is in Japanese. 🙂
That’s so neat! Without actually hearing these, I have no idea how they pronounced, but I love that you speak the language to and with your kids! Great way to immerse them in something new!

This is cool education about fruit names in Japanees but for me a bit late. While I was there a year ago I had to ask for banana and oranges for my meal in the day cos these were to similar names than other fruits and at dinner I use to get my food at hotel. i am gonna print and save this for my future reference.
I love comparing languages. Thanks for sharing this interesting series of posts with us.

too funny that banana is the same for Japanese. So Ringo Star is named after an apple. Love it.

I think it’s very interesting that Banana is the same in English and Japanese! That’s very cool! I don’t know any Japanese, though… is it pronounced the same?

Thanks for sharing.. my daughter loves to learn new languages.. she has learned few Japanese words from her classmates. Actually she is learning french in school 🙂
Bless you : o daiji ni 🙂
I’ve always wanted to learn Japanese but was scared it would be too hard. These words seem easy enough to pronounce but I’m sure the Japanese lettering isn’t! All I know how to say is You’re Welcome!

Only one I’m sure to remember is banana. Japanese has such an unique sound. It really doesn’t relate to any language I know.
Interesting! It’s always nice learn some basic Japanese words:)

This is awesome that you have a Japanese section. Now, I’m going to be on the hunt for how to pronounce each word.
Interesting! I’d love to learn other languages as well only if I had time. But I love Ringo, Budou, Ichigo! 🙂
I love that banana is banana. I am speaking Japanese already! Those are much easier than I would have thought. However, like someone else said, without hearing it, it’s hard to say.
I knew plum was ume, but I was really surprised about banana! I would have a hard time remembering anything else but ringo for apple 🙂
