Not that anyone thought that at all. I’ve just been quiet. The kids being off of school has created some interesting times here at the new place.
The weather hasn’t exactly been favorable to running around and playing outside for the most part. Which means that we’ve spent some time cooped up in the house, but with three (four but one isn’t actually put together right now because I’m a lazy… lazy bum. >.>) computers, the wii, ps2 and good old N64
The Pikachu one, just so ya know. The kids love it, because it’s Pikachu. Which is the reason I bought it a few years ago, cheap at game-stop. Yes, just because it’s the Pikachu one I’d always wanted back when the N64 was cool and desirable.
Let’s see, I already mentioned Lisi turned 6 and Var turned 7. Kat ‘graduated’ 6th grade and is moving on to middle school. Although she could have been at middle school for 6th grade here, she felt more comfortable staying at the elementary school which offers one 6th grade class. One that she actually had to fill out an application for on why she wanted to stay there for 6th grade. Interesting.
I’ve been on a tour of the middle school we picked out, which is not the one we’re actually ‘in zone’ for, because I don’t particularly like what I’ve read about the school, it’s pointless for her to take a bus to a school further away from the house when I can drive 8 minutes to this school, and she doesn’t want to have to wear uniforms anymore. 2 years of it is enough, although she considered the local charter school if it wasn’t for it’s very strict no jewelry and self expression at all policy.
I couldn’t imagine Kat without her small bag of art supplies at her side, her rings, and necklaces that she loves.
Since here the middle school only allows you one year long elective or two semesters, she had to give up being in choir for the year. Well, she decided to give it up in order to try out different things. I feel sad for her, I was able to do electives along with choir all through middle school and enjoyed the experience. Maybe she’ll want to look into some other type of choir that isn’t put on through the school. I don’t know.

Blarrr!
What? It’s better than argh! I didn’t suddenly turn into a pirate or anything. 😉
Let’s see. Ohh!! Pictures!
I got Lisi this tiara for her birthday, because I am tired of getting cheap ones at the dollar store, or ones with Princess pictures on them because they’re always so cheap that they break with normal play.
Heck sometimes they break just getting put on her head or taken off come night time! Not this one though, I’ve spent more than this on tiara’s and princess crowns over the years. Why didn’t I think of this sooner?!
She is absolutely IN LOVE with this thing. Wears it anytime we go out and often around the house, even if she’s just up eating breakfast in her pajama’s. It appears that just about any time is Princess Time for Lis. Then again that doesn’t surprise me, her inner Princess has made itself loud and clear from the get go.
Which makes winter time a struggle in getting her to dress warmly enough for the weather. Thank goodness for warm tights, because otherwise she wouldn’t have been able to go to school during her “PRINCESSES DON’T WEAR PANTS!!!!!” stage. Yeesh!
Speaking of Princesses not wearing pants, but dresses… or skirts. Skirts are okay. She’s been wanting a more ‘Rapunzel’ type dress for awhile now. Though she has a pink one, she’s wanted a Purple one.
Thank you Disney, because I refuse to buy a cheap costume that will fall apart in no time like the other actual Disney Princess dress up dresses I’ve managed to buy in stores, I had to find something similar but with quality!
Thank you Little Adventures for offering a Rapunzel fits the bill well enough to have her squealing with delight when she got to open her (far too late! but she didn’t complain as much as I did inwardly) birthday present box from Amazon. I don’t know where my wrapping paper is alright? Don’t judge. XD
As much as I wanted to get her a pretty wig to go along with it, I just couldn’t find one with decent enough reviews. Maybe I’ll just have to buy some wig hair and make an extension braid that we can add to her hair in her own hair color.
She’ll be the red-haired Rapunzel. Without the tower, though her bedroom is on the upper level of our split-level, so I suppose if I make it long enough to hang out the window….
Var may actually attempt to climb up it.
I can see that not working out very well in anyone’s favor. Sorry kiddos, you’re going to have to handle not having hair that is so impossibly long you’d have to be at least 18 so you can have your own 100 foot long hair. Which is the length we’re lead to believe Rapunzel’s would be if she never cut her hair like she couldn’t in the Disney version.
Somehow, Rapunzel’s hair grows at an impossible 5.55555555555556 (that may be one too many fives, but you get the point) FEET a year. Yikes girl, you should talk to a wig maker, you’d be RICH with that kind of hair growth. Of course they show them later and they’d gotten married and her hair is still short. Hmmm, where’s your 0.46 foot of hair growth per month? That’s got to be hard to maintain!
Okay, so that’s a minor nitpick, and one from someone who actually LOVES long hair on characters. Though my character was actually well over 100 (and not human) and her hair was only about 9 feet long. Some people still complained to me about her design because of the length of her hair. Hmm, deal. 😛
Ahhh, rant. Wow, can you tell I haven’t had coffee yet? Yes, 12:37 and I am functioning so far without coffee. But I have had a donut, fine fine, TWO.
She also got a guitar, on her actual birthdate. But I don’t have a picture, and I’m too lazy right this second to go take one. But it’s pretty, pink, and has faeries on it. Use your imagination on that I suppose?
This is her one other present. A present that sat, seriously, in the back of my fan since Aussie bought it in February and I never bothered to bring it inside the old house, or the new house. Until well after her birthday and my things showed up. I know Kat and Sis knew what this was.
But despite how many times Lisi sat in the far back seat she didn’t peak.
Unless she’s really good at pretending she had no idea for about 4 months that she was getting this.
Which I doubt, she probably just listened and didn’t look. At least she’s good to listen?
This doll was on clearance one day Lisi, Aussie and I were walking around Wal*fart (yes, I’m 12 sometimes!) and she fell in love. Giving each other a few looks, he took her to go do some more looking in the toy section while I ‘went bathroom’.
Somehow, she didn’t notice the large box hiding under a jacket in the cart.
Should I be worried about her lack of attention to detail? Or be happy I can sneak things past all the kids well enough that I can catch them off guard and enjoy their faces of surprise?
I think I’ll take the time to be happy, goodness knows I need more of that!
I had a thankfully easier time… hahaha just kidding! *snort*
Anyway, I had a hard time figuring out what to actually get Var. I swear, he may be my son but I just don’t always get boys! Heck I still have issues figuring out what to buy Aussie for birthdays and holidays. Let alone my poor only son. So, after too many times scouring Amazon over, and over… and over…
I had the most brilliant ideas of brilliant ideas ever in the entire world! (I’m kidding with the wording here, I’m really not 12! Swear!) Since he’s 7 now, and so full of the ultimate wisdom of what he wants and what he doesn’t and all that. I gave him a choice!
I could buy a present for him, or he could have $35 to spend on Amazon on anything he wants! As long as he makes sure to look at shipping prices, or only buy things that have Prime shipping, because that’s free shipping and fast. So he wouldn’t have to worry about his budget.
I’m sure you can figure out which option he went with. His own money to make his own choices. I felt kind of bad, but I knew this way that any unhappiness he may have experienced with his selections wouldn’t be directly tied to the fact that I just have no idea what to pick. With certainty at least. I can pick things, but I always worry that it may not be exactly perfect unless I’m picking it off a list of things someone wants. Yes, a flaw.
These are his choices:
It actually took him awhile to make his final selections too. He really did put time and thought into each of the items he got. Even if he could have picked better Lightsaber wanna be’s. I wouldn’t very well recommend those ones above UNLESS you are looking for a CHEAP option and own a soldering gun in order to fix loose connections with both happen EASILY and may even happen right out of the package such as the case was with Var’s green saber.
Thankfully for Var, mama owns a soldering gun and knows how to use it.
The cards likely make people go… huh? It’s actually a deck that my ex has (Lisi’s dad) and he’s gotten heavily into learning card tricks lately.
In fact he’s gotten so heavily into card tricks that even VAR wants to do card tricks, and magic in general. So the ex bought him a freaking awesome magic kit.
Which made Var both happy and sad, because “it’s not REALLY magic” like you see in cartoons.. and of course once you learn magic tricks or the steps behind a card trick or magic trick… you realize it’s not really magic.
Which takes the magic out of it. So I don’t like when the ex attempts to tell me how he’s done something.
Darn it, let me have my magic! I know it’s not technically real, but I need more ‘wow!’ in my life and magic tricks and illusions are a guilty pleasure of mine to watch. Stop pissin’ on my happy darn it!
I think the biggest plus for me is when Var proudly tries to show off a trick. Even if it’s a trick that to me is insanely obvious (he has a box that makes candy ‘disappear’), I act surprised and ask him how he’s done it. “MAGIC!” Yep, there you go baby boy. That’s your magic.
Okay, another big plus is he’s completely adorable in a magicians hat. More so with that cheesin’ grin. His default picture face. I used to smile like that in pictures, but with my eyes open. It was creepy. He makes it cute and it serves him well as a default ‘how can you manage to be mad at someone with a grin like that?!’ look.
Stop using your cuteness against me darn it! I have bad enough teeth as is! 😉
Ahh, I have so much else I could actually share this entry, but I’ve actually almost hit that 2000 cord count mark. Are you tired of me yapping your ear off yet? I suppose some can wait for later.
In which case I’ll leave you with this:
‘Runny toes. So big, puffy and cute. I just want to kiss them!
