Ehhhh!
I would not suggest going to bed at 2:30AM when you know that you have to be up at 8:15AM in order to go and have a 3 hour long lecture at school! More so when it means that you’ll be so tired that you don’t actually get out of bed until 8:30, and then it takes you 15 minutes to get ready to go. So you leave having done not much more than take a dose of head cold medication, a couple drinks of water and then out the door with you.
Needless to say it was past noon before I ate anything today. Which has pretty much set me up for complete and total failure as far as energy and general want and desire to handle things today.
The oldest had a friend spend the night last night, and I sometimes wonder how differently I am supposed to treat a guest, or how much I have to stick to my guns. Sadly to say her friend can be a bit… demanding, and after having her over for 26 hours, it was time for her to head home and go back to the 4:1 ratio going on here.
It’s not all bad, not really, it’s just that I don’t know how to really handle other people’s children because I don’t know their parenting styles and it’s an intense amount of pressure. More so when the parent tends to thank me over and over and over for allowing their kiddo to stay over.
Seriously, it’s okay. I wouldn’t allow her over if it wasn’t okay. Sure she can be a bit much at times, only a touch much, nothing really horrific. And it’s good for Kat (nickname for oldest) to have someone her age here. She’s got three years of an age difference between Sisi, almost 5 between Var, and almost 6 between Lisi. So it can be a little difficult with so many youngers in the house. If I wanted her to go home, I’d say it’s time to go home.
Var woke up before I wanted to this morning, which was frustrating because everyone watched a movie last night (the five kids mine plus the friend) with the ex because it was ‘kiddo movie night’. I got to sit in my office and work on two of my homework assignments. That and I really didn’t have any desire to watch Mrs. Doubtfire for the 50-millionth time.
I was a little grouchy this morning. The kids had gone to bed at nearly 1AM and I had no real desire to have to stress that they were up and ready for the morning before I was up and ready to go to my lecture and the ex got here to watch them so they didn’t burn the house down or something. Okay, that last bit is a joke, it’s mainly because they probably wouldn’t have eaten if no one was here.
Well, nothing else of real interest to report. Oh, other than the fact that I wouldn’t recommend dried nori (seaweed) as a substitute in egg drop soup as it alters the taste. Stick with Spinach, even if that means an extra trip to the store!
We liked it for the most part, aside from Var who decided that he was going to proclaim loudly that he was going to barf, and it was sooo bad and sooo gross and just digusting and I don’t like it and this is the worst thing ever.
Funny, coming from the boy who likes nori in his Miso soup and on his sushi. o.O needless to say even though I tried to get him to stop being so rude for 20 minutes, he ended up having an early bedtime for wanting to be a giant pain about it. Seriously, take it out and throw it away, and the soup didn’t taste all that different than my previous makings of it once the nori was gone. But to go on and on about it and saying you’re going to puke? Sometimes, when the kids are ultra rude and can’t just let something go like that… I have to wonder what planet they’ve come from. @_@
