The snow fell far too much this week. Despite the fact that even the college was closing classes, the public schools decided that they needed to have school regardless. My car wouldn’t started Wednesday morning as I’d managed to run out of gas on the drive home Tuesday. Yikes. So I ended up not taking the kids to school, but my ex saved me by bringing me a gallon of gas so I could get to class. Granted, people were getting stuck constantly and they hadn’t plowed the street outside of the school either. I only went to class because, well, it was the only one we had this week and not going can severely hurt my grade. *sigh* I would have stayed home if it was a class we went to 5 days of the week or did all week long..
I made sure the kids did their homework, since it’s usually all told to me as for what needs to be done at the start of every month. They did math, reading, worked on reports, and anything else listed on their calendars that I have to see to is taken care of. I just didn’t feel it was safe to be making 3-4 trips to the school with how heavy the snow was. Tuesday was rough enough, and I saw three accidents before evening. That was intimidating enough for me.
Come Wednesday morning we also had another 6 inches or so of snow, on the roads none the less making it far worse. By Thursday we had a little over a foot, and they still hadn’t plowed over here were I live! Yet they still wanted the kids to school, only to cancel all after school activities due to ‘bad driving conditions, and the lack of plowing and parking outside of the school.’ I only made it to class by getting a ride from the ex, as I couldn’t get my van out of the driveway by this point, and even then we had the hardest time getting off the streets around home here. Of course, it just so happened that class was called off after the first 30 minutes, and then all classes at the college after that were cancelled as well. Yikes! We spend almost an hour with the neighbor shoveling the driveway. Just for another 3 inches to fall overnight, and the roads STILL not to be plowed around here!
Blessedly, today was finally called as a snow day all around. The entire school district was closed, the college didn’t open the campus in the slightest, and I didn’t have to even attempt our still unplowed street. My van is covered in snow again, and I was considering going out this morning to shovel again… only for it to snow more. Thank goodness I didn’t bother, I’m already in massive pain from shoveling yesterday. On top of that, I’ve decided that someway, somehow, I am getting a snow blower already so I don’t have to go through that anymore. If I am going to live in this area, I am getting one!
Well, now that all my whining and ‘I don’t want to drive in the snow’ is over with… On to the more happy/enjoyable parts of this post.
I’d like to just go ahead and announce the new section I’ve added above! ^_^ I now have a section for recipes I like to use. They’re either ones that I’ve adapted to our liking, or just direct links to ones on the web I like just how they are. I have two recipes added in there already! Egg Drop soup, and Almond chicken!
There are also two new giveaways linked over in the Giveaways section! Both are for iPad 2’s! One is from Stanford University, and the other from Exodus169! Good luck everyone!
Until next time! <3
