I can’t really always afford my favorite Starbucks drink, so I’ve settled for trying to make one of my own and work it to being as close as possible. My favorite Starbucks drink happens to be a Mocha Frappucino lite; with whipped cream, mocha drizzle, cocoa powder, nutmeg and vanilla powder. Yeah, it’s a bit ‘complicated’ but one of the local Starbucks’ has dubbed this drink ‘the blue haired order’ after me. 🙂 The ex tends to buy me coffee from time to time when I do things for him, and Aussie throws money on my card so I can get some too. Still, if I had my drink every day, that’d be way too expensive. So I’ve gotten pretty good at making a coffee at home that fits my need perfectly!
So here are my supplies:
8 large ice cubes
1/2 cup Non-fat milk
2 Tablespoons Hershey’s lite syrup with some drizzled on later
1/2 cup Cold-brewed coffee served cold
Whipped light cream for the top
Hmmm, I love cold brewed coffee, even if at times I feel like I’m cheating on my little espresso machine. Note: If you brew your cold brew coffee for a over 12 hours (sometimes I do 24) and you find the coffee is exceptionally strong, do 1/3 cup coffee and 2/3 cup milk to tone down the flavor. You could also add another .5 tablespoon of chocolate syrup if you’d like.
Start with your ice cubes in the blender, add your coffee, milk, and chocolate syrup. I also add in some Boost chocolate protein powder to make the drink more ‘healthy’ than not, I don’t know how many calories it adds, because more often than not I’m not really measuring the amount of powder I throw in. However, I also do make this without the powder.
Blend the heck outta it, you want it as smooth as possible. Nothing so frustrating as trying to drink your Frappucino and finding it far too thick for your straw. Doesn’t it look delicious already? Yum!
Ohhh smooth and creamy! Just how I like it!
Whip and drizzle, hmm, but not finished just yet!
I use Swiss Miss hot cocoa as my ‘chocolate powder’ and nutmeg currently. I don’t know what would be a good addition to go as the Vanilla powder available at Starbucks. Anyone have any suggestions for what would work here?
I left the chocolate mess on just for pictures, don’t worry I made sure to lick it off because it’s delicious! From here you enjoy! I mean it, enjoy! This cup is fairly large and I believe I have around 24 oz (so Venti sized) of coffee here, so the recipe could technically make you two Tall sized (12oz) Frappucino’s.
Calorie wise this isn’t bad, without the protein powder the entire drink is 45 (for the milk, my non-fat is 90calories per cup) and 40 for the chocolate syrup. I estimate I am having at least 4 tablespoons of whipped cream so 30 calories for that, and a little bit of chocolate drizzled on top for another 10 calories or so. Without the optional powders on top (particularly the hot cocoa powder, nutmeg likely adds minimal/no calories) you’re looking at a 115 calorie Venti frappucino!

I loved the recipe sharing. I don’t drink this, but daughter really does. This could save a lot of money by making it for herself at home . I will pass it on to her and RT etc. Malika Bourne from MBS

Thank you! I love them myself, and they’re really good if you put in part of a mini-candycane to give some minty flavor as well!

I love white chocolate. I’m prblaoby not enough of a connoisseur, but I like the Lindt white chocolate truffle balls. Those are yummy. The coffee sounds good too, even for a non real coffee drinker. Nonetheless, it sounds like a fun event. I hope it was fun for you.

I prefer this coffee drink over ‘real coffee’ unless I’m at a place where ‘real’ coffee is all that’s available. What can I say? I enjoy my ‘froofroo’ coffee drink! 😉

This looks great. We love coffee at our house and always seem to have leftover coffee at the end of the day. This would be a great way to use it.

Eric that’s true! This would be perfect for coffee kept in the fridge for the next day!

Yumm! Going to have to try this tonight. I live quite a distance from any Starbucks so I am always creating my own drinks.
